Announcing the Engagement of Emily Barkann and Joseph Coopersmith

PHILADELPHIA - The Barkann and Coopersmith Families are delighted to announce the engagement of Emily Barkann to Joseph “Joe” Coopersmith.

Ms Barkann and Mr. Coopersmith were engaged on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Ms Barkann and Mr. Cooperamith met while attending college together in Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.

Originally from Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, Ms Barkann currently serves as chief White House correspondent for AKSM Media. She graduated from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism and minors in Political Science and Sports Management. Barkann graduated in 2022 with a Master's Degree in Political Science from Villanova University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In 2022, she began pursuing a Juris Doctor degree while serving as Chief White House Correspondent and is expected to graduate from Drexel University’s School of Law in May of 2025.

Mr. Coopersmith currently serves as an associate relationship manager at Clark Capital Management Group. In this role, he serves as an internal sales consultant dedicated to educating advisors on Clark Capital’s strategies and helping advisors with investment proposals, marketing requests, and general support. He has previously served as a chief of staff at Vanguard prior to his transition to Clark Capital. Mr. Coopersmith received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Syracuse University in May of 2019 along with Ms Barkann.

Ms Barkann’s father, Michael Barkann, said the following in a statement: “The Yiddish word kvell means literally bursting with pride. I am kvelling over these two - today and always. Mazel Tov - let's have a wedding!”
