What Should I Wear?

You’ve scheduled your photo-shoot. Step one is done; not it’s onto step two, what in the world should I wear? Glad that you asked because we are here to help you with this. You want to look nice, well styled, but not boring. To put your minds at ease, we have compiled a list of tips so you can better pick out your outfits.

Tip #1: Dress Simply.

Avoid wearing complicated styles and color schemes as they will take away from the image. Try for more simple styles and limited color schemes. Doing so will allow the viewer of the image to focus more on you and not your clothes.  Also, stay away from printed t-shirts as they will date the image. Make sure to avoid wearing super trendy styles, as they also will date the image. You don't want to look back at you pictures years later and cringe because the style you are wearing is humorously outdated.

Tip #2: Avoid Small Patterns.

Small patterns on clothing can be subtle but yet stunning, but when getting your pictures taken, it would be best if avoid those. This is because digital cameras - though they are getting better and better - still struggle rendering tight patterns. The image comes out looking much different than you see it real life. The image way have strange colors (normally red, green, and blue) on the pattern. This is called Moiré.

Tip #3: Bring Several Outfits.

Bringing several outfits will give you more looks from one shoot. We suggest bringing a very casual, semi formal, and formal outfit to your photo shoot. Also one way to get more looks from one outfit is to accessorize. Bringing several bracelets, necklaces and earnings all give you the opportunity to have more looks form one outfit. Also bringing a jacket, different shoes and scarf will diversify your look without having to change completely. If you are coming for a senior portrait photo shoot, another good idea is to bring a hoodie or t-shirt from the college or university you plan on attending.
