WASHINGTON - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the White House on Friday. In a readout from the White House, the meeting was held to reaffirm the relationship between the two countries and focus on what can be done to help Ukraine.

Scholz took office two months before Russia began their invasion on Ukraine, launching him to the helm of the largest economy in Europe. President Biden and Scholz entered a diplomatic relationship based on the shared desired to help Ukraine and stop Russia.

“As NATO allies, we are making the alliance stronger and more capable,” President Biden said in their meeting.

The two leaders spoke on Ukraine, and emphasized that they will continue to offer aid as long as necessary.

“It’s really important that we acted together… that we made it feasible that we can give the necessary support to Ukraine during all this time,” Chancellor Scholz said, “…We will continue to do so as long as it takes and as long as it is necessary.”

The leaders did not hold an open press conference, and their discussion was behind closed doors. A senior administration official told CNN that their discussion touched on China, but their focus was on Ukraine.
