WASHINGTON - Naomi Biden joins the rare tradition of being wed at The White House. Her wedding was the first ever to be held on the South Lawn. Only 18 weddings have been held at The White House in over 200 years.

Naomi Biden, 28, and Peter Neal, 25, were wed on Saturday at The White House.

Naomi and Peter’s wishes that their wedding was closed to the media. They wanted to enjoy their special day with no press. A private wedding ceremony and reception is what the couple shared on Saturday.

White House Press Secretary, Jean-Pierre stated that the couple wanted a private event.

'They want it to be private, and we're going to respect their wishes. We're going to provide a photo and a statement from the President and First Lady after the wedding. And, again, these are their wishes and we're going to respect them,' she said.

Noami and Peter’s day was filled with 250 guests and the day consisted of three parts. The ceremony was held at 11 a.m. on the South Lawn, followed by a private lunch for the wedding party and family. Following with the reception later in the evening that was also held in the White House.

Naomi and Peter are reported to be living in the White House, both law school graduates both working in Washington D.C. Neal who worked in Democratic politics and Naomi working as an attorney.

The bride was in a long sleeve gown designed by Ralph Lauren. She was walked down the aisle by her parents. Hunter Biden and Kathleen Buhle. President Biden walked down the aisle with Neal’s two grandmothers and then walked the First Lady down the aisle shortly after.

The last wedding to take place at The White House was in 2013, when the former White House photographer Pete Souza got married in the Rose Garden.

The lavish wedding ceremony and reception was run by Marc Mezvinsky who runs a New York and Boston based events firm. He also designed Chelsea Clinton’s wedding in 2010.
