WASHINGTON - As winter weather comes to a close, spring is on the horizon. The White House has now planned the new season's activities, including Spring Garden Tours and the annual Easter Egg Roll for young children.

“Today, the President and First Lady are pleased to announce the schedule for the following springtime events: Spring Garden Tours and the White House Easter Egg Roll,” The White House said in the statement announcing the plans for the upcoming season.

Spring Garden Tours

Throughout the weekend of April 1st and 2nd, the White House is opening its gates to the South Grounds and Gardens so the public can enjoy a Spring Garden Tour, an annual tradition that the President and First Lady have continued throughout their administration.

The times set for tour tickets are between 10:00 AM through 4:30 PM, which are entirely free to the public. A ticket is required for any and all guests in attendance, including children.

In order to receive a ticket, the National Park Service (NPS) plans on distributing timed tickets each morning at 8:30 AM in a tent outside the White House Visitor Center. No reservations prior to the tour dates are available. The White House Visitors Center is located at 1450 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

Easter Egg Roll

As one of the oldest traditions in the history of what is often referred to as “the people's house,” the South Lawn will once again host the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, April 10th.

Geared towards children the ages of 12 and under, tickets are free to the public. Throughout the dates of March 16th through March 23rd, the public had the opportunity to gain tickets via a public lottery. Winners are selected at random and were notified through an email on the morning of Monday, March 27th.

“Tickets are not for sale or resale,” The White House said, in a statement.

Every year a theme is enjoyed by those of the public who attended. Activities and a theme will be revealed in the coming days before the event.

Opportunities to Volunteer

The White House looks forward to offering the opportunity to help with the annual Easter Egg Roll through a volunteer application.

The application was open until the deadline of March 23rd at 5:00 PM. The requirement to be a volunteer was to be of 18 years or older in order to participate.

As the events get closer and closer, more affirmative details will be available for those in attendance. For any and all information needed, use this link.
